Challenge Events

Barnardo’s has launched The Cairngorm Challenge to be run on the 8th September with some exciting changes which promise to make this year’s challenge the best yet. The Cairngorm Challenge will continue to be the popular Hike and Bike duathlon offering three routes:

  • Bronze at 50km
  • Silver at 75km
  • Gold at 100km.

The routes will pass through the stunningly beautiful and highly protected estates of Rothiemurchus, FCS Glenmore, Pityoulish, RSPB Abernethy reserve and Cairngorm Mountain.

About Badaguish

Designed and delivered by Maximillion, The Cairngorm Challenge Hub will move a couple of kilometres down the road to the Badaguish Outdoor Centre in the heart of stunning Glenmore Forest. With the move to Badaguish comes a range of benefits designed to improve the overall participant experience. Badaguish has some fantastic onsite facilities including a café, sports hall, and showers along with all the logistical support of toilets, power, water, lighting, parking and abundance of on-site accommodation. The great facilities will not just make the event stronger but will also help reduce some of the cost of running the event, maximising the return to Barnado’s. Badaguish is run by The Speyside Trust so by hosting the event from here we will also be supporting a local charitable business.

In Support

Our loyal team of sponsors will continue to support the event again this year and our thanks go to:

  • EAE Distribution for distributing over 40,000 leaflets
  • Teko for providing performance socks for all
  • Anatom for providing walking boots as prizes
  • Glenmore Lodge for providing mountain bike courses as prizes
  • Tiso for providing water bottles
  • Coca Cola Enterprises for providing Powerade
  • Buena Vista Entertainments for compering, DJing and providing the sound system

We simply couldn’t run this event cost effectively without the generous support of these organisations and are hugely grateful for their important contribution.
